Description The City of Forney is currently accepting applications for the position of Meter Technician II. This position is responsible for participating in the maintenance and reading of water utility meters. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys hands-on work, outdoor environments, and contributing to the reliability of our community's water service. Examples of Duties Repair and replace meter boxes. Assist with locating and repairing meter leaks. Meter sets & repairs. Clean work sites and restore landscaping to original condition upon completion of meter repair projects. Process closed account disconnections and new service turn-ons. Process non-payment turn-offs and lockdowns. Maintain assigned tools and equipment. Operate light construction equipment, including electric saws, drills, shovels, and hand tools as needed. Provide support, backup assistance, on-call coverage, and support to other City departments as assigned. Complete and close service orders. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements

Work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects up to 100 lbs. And uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
Work Environment:
The work is typically performed in an office setting, with occasional outdoor assignments, including in cold or inclement weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and grease. Work requires the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and gloves. Minimum Qualifications
Possess a valid driver's license High School Diploma or GED Two (2) years' experience in meter maintenance. Must possess a Class "D" Water license at the time of application or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of hire.
