Our client, a rapidly growing financial services firm headquartered in New York City, is seeking a
Senior Accountant
to join their team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $90k - $100k Position Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This Senior Accountant role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with accounting standards, improving processes, and supporting the company’s overall financial health. Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaids.
Review and analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization schedules.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to ensure proper accounting for transactions.
Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:
CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
3 - 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Team player with a collaborative mindset.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
