Job Summary
The
Electrical Design Technician
will perform comprehensive installations in support of the GFX Law Enforcement Vehicles Program and assist with the development of new accessories installation methodologies.
Key Responsibilities Assist with development of installation methods, configurations, wiring sketches, work instructions, quality concerns, and bill of materials for existing and new accessories.
Determine and continuously improve installation techniques for production applications of specialty police accessories.
Assist with designing and fabricating new products.
Assist with the design of vehicle layout. Draft schematics, contribute to development of BOMs, PTS, FKS, and QCSO. Support production Evaluations on a daily basis. Includes audits for quality, techniques, tooling, and work station setup, performed to ensure the highest standards of installation are being performed.
Programming of siren systems and harness layout.
Have a working-level understanding of advanced wiring principles and how to construct industry-grade harnesses. Install accessory components on vehicles using hand and power tools. Program siren systems, lighting, per customer specification or configuration.
Help ensure that work is being carried out as per work instructions and ensure production and quality requirements are met according to documented standards.
Establish proper functions of siren, lighting, and other installed electrical system components. Verify functionality with quality specialists for both in-process inspections and final inspections prior to shipment. Assist in Development of work instructions for aftermarket upfit
Assist with the validation of build quality concerns in coordination with the Quality department.
Participate and contribute to quality sign-offs according to internal and customer specifications.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum Required: A minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent. Preferred: Associates Degree in Automotive related studies.
Experience
Minimum Required: Three years of Electrical Design experience or related field. Preferred: Five years of Electrical Design experience or related field.
Understanding of production flow techniques in manufacturing. Must be capable of building entire pre-production units with minimal assistance. Maintain a valid Enhanced US Driver's License and/or Passport. Preferred: Computer skills in MS Office with knowledge in Siren System Programming software. Working Conditions
The following working conditions are present or expected on a daily basis:
Manufacturing environment with limited managerial assignments. Limited exposure to weather elements, chemical, robotics, industrial and automotive vehicles including electrical components. Ability to lift up to 50lbs with limited accommodations and flexible working positions. Must comply with all Company policies, procedures and work instructions. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times while on the production floor.
