Our client, a global automotive manufacturer, is seeking a
Program Buyer
to support new product launches and strategic sourcing initiatives. This role plays a critical part in bridging Purchasing, Engineering, and Program Management to ensure successful quoting and execution of new business. The Program Buyer will be deeply involved in quoting activities for OEM programs, providing material cost estimates, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with key quality and risk standards. 100% onsite position.
Key Responsibilities Support sourcing efforts for new product launches, including material cost estimation for RFQs and customer quotes. Analyze cost breakdowns and apply total cost of ownership (TCO) principles to supplier selection decisions. Manage end-to-end RFQ processes and supplier evaluations in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Work closely with Program Management, Engineering, and Quality to align sourcing timelines with project milestones. Support quoting and launch readiness activities with accurate BOM costs and supply chain assumptions. Negotiate commercial terms and pricing with suppliers, balancing cost, quality, delivery, and risk. Identify supplier risks, such as single-sourcing, and propose mitigation strategies. Ensure supplier compliance with industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and internal requirements. Interpret technical drawings and understand manufacturing processes to ensure accurate sourcing. Maintain pricing and supplier data within ERP and procurement systems. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 4 years of direct purchasing or sourcing experience within the automotive or manufacturing industry. Proven experience in program-level sourcing, quoting, or supporting product launches. Strong skills in cost analysis, negotiation, and supplier management. Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand manufacturing processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional and supplier collaboration. Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting OEM quotes or launches in a Tier 1 automotive environment. Working knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO-based supplier compliance requirements. Familiarity with global sourcing and supplier risk assessments. Experience coordinating with Engineering, Program Management, and Quality teams. Exposure to cost modeling or clean-sheet costing tools. Titles Encouraged to Apply
