Emergency Shelter Coordinator
– Columbus House, Inc., Wallingford, CT Seasonal:
December 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026. Part‑time, FLSA Non‑Exempt. Purpose
The Wallingford Emergency Shelter’s guiding principle is to save lives during the harshest winter months by providing compassionate care for the most vulnerable residents of Middlesex and New Haven areas. This role provides supervision, program oversight, and training to Residential Support Specialists at the shelter. Responsibilities
Train and supervise Residential Support Specialists at the Wallingford Emergency Shelter. Provide program oversight to ensure consistency and continuity of services. Facilitate supervision and team meetings as needed. Attend all Shelter and Outreach CAN meetings. Review and complete staff scheduling and required documentation, including intakes, discharges, daily rosters, incident reports, daily logs, and infraction forms. Coordinate and collaborate with other agencies and the Columbus House management team. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead, manage, motivate, and direct staff and clients. Excellent time‑management and organizational skills. Preferred knowledge of residential services for the homeless population. Awareness of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues. Knowledge of local network providers. Computer literate, culturally competent, and able to work within a team. General understanding of crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, and universal precautions. Ability to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy and strong empathic skills. Salary & Schedule
Salary:
$23.00 – $25.00 per hour, no benefits. Schedule:
20 hours per week: Friday – Tuesday, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Application
