Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic where you will be responsible for mechanically repairing industrial equipment such as boilers, blast furnaces, cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining smooth operations across our facility.

Responsibilities

Mechanically repair industrial equipment including boilers, blast furnaces, cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with a focus on hydraulics, including replacing pumps and hoses.

Perform alignment and troubleshooting of power trains, involving motors, couplings, and outputs.

Rebuild industrial machinery and handle breakdowns effectively.

Read and interpret blueprints for repair projects.

Utilize hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.

Engage in MIG and STICK welding if trained, with opportunities for on-the-job welding training.

Essential Skills

3+ years of experience as an industrial mechanic/millwright.

Experience with equipment maintenance including boom cranes, overhead cranes, forklifts, and bobcats.

Proficiency in troubleshooting hydraulic systems both independently and within a team.

Welding experience and overhead crane maintenance skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is recommended but not mandatory for permanent placement.

Experience in heavy equipment maintenance.

Leadership experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is a heavy industrial steel facility, characterized by dirt and high temperatures due to steel melting processes. Employees must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors, exposed to seasonal elements, and moving between multiple buildings. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed boots, hard hats, and safety glasses must be worn at all times. The role involves working on the 2nd shift (2:00 pm-10:30 pm) or 3rd shift (10:00 pm-6:30 am), typically 50-60 hours weekly, including six days a week.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $61360.00/yr.

Union benefits and bonus structure. Attendance bonus paid quarterly. could result in 3% of Gross pay per quarter. OT bonus

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Chicago,IL.
