The Office of Undergraduate Education at CU Boulder encourages applications for an

Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Curriculum . The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Dean and Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education and is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of academic programs, policies and curricular initiatives that are under the aegis of the Office of Undergraduate Education, and is a key contributor to campus-wide policy creation and curricular decisions regarding undergraduate education. This position supports the vice chancellor for academic planning and assessment, the vice provost and dean for undergraduate education and the Campus Curriculum Committee in implementing, maintaining, assessing, and improving the CU Boulder Common Curriculum, a set of faculty-designed and -approved learning outcomes that provide each undergraduate student with a campus-wide common learning experience and that, combined with the school and college general education or core curricula, are the foundation for all undergraduate degrees at CU Boulder. This role is a key partner with campus constituents who work with undergraduate populations from first-time first-year to transfer students, including schools and colleges, the Office of the Registrar, and other units within OUE. Responsibilities

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Common Curriculum

Develop operating principles for the Common Curriculum Coordinate ongoing mapping, tracking and analysis of how Common Curriculum learning outcomes are achieved within courses approved for the general education or core curricula of the schools and colleges By means of curricular mapping, process an ongoing course inventory for the Common Curriculum by, for example, reviewing course proposals and timelines, reviewing curricular policies and procedures, and assisting with coordinating catalog publication Conduct periodic review of courses approved for the Common Curriculum to ensure quality, consistency, and delivery of the Common Curriculum learning outcomes Work with campus experts such as the Center for Teaching & Learning to assist faculty with curricular design aligning with Common Curriculum learning outcomes In partnership with the Office of Academic Planning & Assessment and the Campus Curriculum Committee, plan and coordinate the assessment of the Common Curriculum learning outcomes and facilitate the dissemination and review of assessment findings to university constituencies for the continuous improvement of academic programs Analyze whether Common Curriculum learning objectives, learning outcomes and assessment are in alignment with campus accreditation standards and guidelines, and make recommendations for needed revisions and improvement Oversee information and communications about the Common Curriculum to faculty and staff; serve as primary liaison to the Office of the Registrar, the colleges and schools, and other relevant departments and offices regarding the Common Curriculum In partnership with the Office of the Registrar and other relevant offices in the schools and colleges, oversee special academic requests and the proper application of evaluated transfer and AP credit to ensure accurate application to degree audit and fulfillment of Common Curriculum requirements Curriculum Innovation and Review

Support the Campus Curriculum Committee, the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education and the vice chancellor for academic planning and assessment by identifying areas of potential curricular duplication in undergraduate courses across campus in the interests of maintaining campus efficiency and curricular integrity across academic units Support the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education in reviewing proposed new or significantly revised academic credentials including degrees, certificates, minors, and micro-credentials Support the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education in encouraging and guiding the schools, colleges, departments and programs in developing proposals for new interdisciplinary academic credentials Support the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education in partnering on campus initiatives for developing undergraduate online education Work with other leadership positions within the Office of Undergraduate Education to develop, maintain and assess the curricular components housed within OUE departments and programs Academic Policy

Serve as an information source for curricular policy and rules of CU Boulder, the University of Colorado Regents and administrative policy statements, and other governing bodies including CU Boulder’s accrediting agency and the Colorado Department of Higher Education Advise the vice provost and dean of undergraduate education on policy proposal and development related to undergraduate education Implement and carry out curricular policy and rules related to academic programs under the aegis of the Office of Undergraduate Education Assist with the coordination of efforts regarding transfer credit processes Serve on academic policy-related CU Boulder committees and groups What You Should Know

This position offers a hybrid work modality with at least 3 days per week on campus. What We Can Offer
