POSITION SUMMARY The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Utility Maintenance Technician I/II/II. This position is responsible for providing daily maintenance and repair to the Town's the daily operation, preventative maintenance, repairs and record keeping of all pump stations to maintain water quality throughout the Town.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor of appropriate division. Work is checked for accuracy, quality and adherence to instructions. Employee may need to occasionally choose from defined alternatives to resolve problems but consults with Supervisor on matters not covered by guidelines. Incumbents have no supervisory responsibilities.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with the work schedule as business hours, occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation. This position is also essential during emergencies and inclement weather.

The starting annual salary range is

$43,266.48-$72,940.08 (Grades C/D/E).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. 1.Serves as a member of the Maintenance team, and must perform all tasks efficiently and effectively. 2.Repairs specialized equipment at the wastewater treatment plant, sewer pump stations, and drinking water booster pump stations. 3.Inspects, monitors, and repairs air relief valves (ARVs) and odor control (manhole diffusers, carbon scrubbers, chemical feed pumps, and storage tanks) in the water, wastewater, and reclaimed systems. 4.Responds to SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) alarms and takes corrective action to rectify the condition. 5.Keeps accurate and thorough records of all maintenance activities and inspections. 6.Safely operates and repairs wastewater treatment facility electromechanical equipment, pump station electromechanical equipment (including but not limited to pumps, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, contactors, grinders, generators, automatic/manual transfer switches, blowers, air diffusers, ultraviolet disinfection, centrifuges, membrane biological reactors). 7.Assists in the troubleshooting of medium electrical problems within equipment control panels. 8.Maintains Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement to operate the Combination Vacuum/Jetter truck to repair ARVs. Maintains certifications to operate the crane truck and fork lift to load/unload pumps, parts, and chemicals. 9.Participates in special projects and related tasks to improve system performance such as reducing Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) to prevent damage to Town infrastructure, prevention of cavitation in wet wells, etc. 10.Performs minor sanitary sewer manhole restoration and helps Collections team with trenchless sewer line repairs. 11.Performs pipe repairs in above and below ground tanks at the wastewater treatment plant and sewer pump stations. 12.Perform confined space entry using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and procedures, to clean and inspect underground structures. 13.Inputs, updates and maintains information and records using computer programs. 14.Assist locators with Locating water, sewer and storm drains using electronic equipment; installs and repairs water main valves. 15.Assist with Inspections, maintenance and repair of force mains and wastewater lines. 16.Assist with repairs water main breaks and leaks, valves, fire hydrants, pressure reducing valves (PRV's) and pump systems. 17.Assist with cleaning and repairs of sanitary and storm sewers, catalogues the repairs. Reviews video for infiltration, damage, buried manholes, and lines. 18.Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance and repair on equipment. 19.Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed. 20.Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting. 21.Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data. 22.Completes written records of labor and materials used for each work project. 23.Responses to after-hour emergencies and weekend work as needed. 24.Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in construction and maintenance work. • Working knowledge of municipal maintenance and construction practices. • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. • Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements related to the work. • Working knowledge of the traffic laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to use of tools and motorized equipment. • Knowledge of the operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools. • Working knowledge of occupational hazards (OSHA) and safe work practices including Safety Data Sheets. • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. • Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority. • Ability to understand and effectively carry out local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence, and Federal, State, and local regulations. • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision. • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports consistent with the position. • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in English with staff, administration, and the public in both written and verbal form. • Ability to instruct and train in methods and procedures. • Ability to define problems, exercise sound judgment, and address a variety of situations. • Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations. • Ability to maintain professionalism at all times. • Ability to work as a member of a team. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. • Ability to perform mathematical calculations required of this position. • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and ability to work flexible hours to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays due to adverse weather conditions, construction projects, or other emergency service.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent. • Previous work experience in water distribution, collection systems, general maintenance, stormwater, concrete and asphalt.
