This is a grant-funded position.

Position Overview Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician will manage the inventory, prepare documentation and packaging, and ensure quality assurance of medications. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to have knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulations, and supervisory practices to support pharmacy functions across multiple locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with procurement services for all medical supplies and equipment and pharmaceutical equipment and supplies, including but not limited to, vendor and account management, obtaining and evaluating quotes, order processing, and receiving.

Performs clerical and data entry functions pertaining to inventory management and delivery of goods, ensuring all goods/materials are properly labeled, stored, received, and distributed.

Maintains cold storage supplies and equipment for all sites, ensuring refrigeration equipment and related supplies are appropriately monitored, calibrated, and certified.

Serves as additional support within OTS Office supporting other sections on as needed basis.

Other duties as assigned including responding to an emergency event.

Education

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Licensure

Valid Driver's License (Texas upon hire).

Current Pharmacy Technician certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) for reporting, communication, and documentation tasks.

Knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulations, and supervisory practices in supporting pharmacy functions across multiple locations.

Skill in using pharmacy management systems and quality assurance processes, with a focus on maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring process compliance.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear and effective interactions with staff, patients, and stakeholders.

Ability to collaborate effectively with both the public and staff, fostering positive relationships and teamwork.

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

This is a full-time | grant-funded position.

Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Able to travel within Harris County as needed.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed at the main office location with regular travel to clinic locations throughout Harris County.

Work is conducted in climate-controlled pharmacy environments.

The position requires travel between sites and occasional standing for extended periods.

Exposure to standard pharmacy conditions with minimal safety hazards when proper procedures are followed.

Physical Demands

The position occasionally requires standing or bending.

Occasional lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Travel between clinic locations is required.

Work Location

Harris County Public Health: Community Health & Wellness - 5815 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX 77091.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
