Overview Join to apply for the Supervisor of Rail Auto Operations role at Pacific Rail Services (PRS Auto) in Nashville, TN. PRS Auto is hiring immediately for a Rail Terminal Supervisor of Operations to oversee the unloading (driving) of new automobiles from railcars at the CSX Nashville terminal. PRS Auto is an independent contractor of the railroad and not affiliated with the railroad itself. This position provides comprehensive training; prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required. Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish is required.

Job Summary The Rail Terminal Supervisor of Operations coordinates the terminal’s operations to maintain service levels satisfying the customer requirements. This role follows policies and procedures set by the Company and leadership.

Responsibilities

Oversees the scheduling and coordinating of the automotive activities of the terminal.

Assures personnel meet the performance levels of the productivity goals and maintain acceptable service levels based on company standards.

Prioritizes safety, productivity, and efficiency; maintains direct contact with customers for unloading the automobiles; designates availability of equipment to meet customer requirements and ensures the security of all operations within the intermodal yard.

Assists in the company’s safety policies by upholding high standards for all employees.

Monitors the automotive freight to be handled in a cost-effective manner while meeting the customer’s service standards.

Coordinates inventory and auto placement to ensure accuracy and security on all units.

Determines manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned.

Maintains consistent daily contact with the Assistant Terminal Manager and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and pass a drug test.

Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience.

Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.

Proven managerial skills (preferred but not required) including leadership and training, and a good understanding of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, government regulations, and industry standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.

Applicants must reside within a 45-minute commute of the job location; relocation or out-of-area candidates will not be considered.
