Voyant Photonics
About Voyant
Voyant Photonics, based in the heart of New York City, is transforming machine perception with a new class of LiDAR devices that are compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand and powerful enough to measure range, velocity, and reflectivity with unparalleled accuracy. By leveraging cutting‑edge silicon photonic chips smaller than your fingertip, we deliver sensors that are not only revolutionary in performance but also affordable enough to integrate into any system.
Our technology disrupts the status quo of bulky, expensive, and power‑hungry LiDAR systems, making high‑precision sensing accessible for widespread adoption in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial automation, and beyond.
The Opportunity Voyant Photonics is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Production Test Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operations team and lead component‑through module‑level, in‑line and End‑of‑Line (EOL) production test systems at contract manufacturers (CMs).
This role partners closely with the Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Systems, Photonics, and SW/FW teams, as well as contract manufacturers (CMs), to translate bench‑and lab‑level validation methods into robust, production‑ready tests and fully high‑throughput test systems spanning wafer, die, subassembly, and final module stages. You will own the deployment, validation, and continuous improvement of in‑line test processes, ensuring consistent yield, reliability, and data integrity across all manufacturing stages.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Electrical, and Module Test Engineering teams to translate lab‑level methods into robust, repeatable CM production tests
Own the deployment, validation, and sustainment of in‑line test systems spanning wafer, die, laser, subassembly, and final module stages
Lead test industrialization for photonics, lasers, PCBAs, and amplifiers with foundries, OSATs, and CMs, including ATE, probe card, and optical alignment validation
Define test coverage, acceptance criteria, and yield targets for all production phases
Drive CM collaboration on test fixture design, equipment qualification, calibration, and maintenance to ensure repeatability and uptime
Implement automated test scripts, calibration routines, and data pipelines for traceability and real‑time yield monitoring
Apply SPC, Cp/Cpk, DOE, and root cause analysis to improve process capability and test stability
Manage CM test audits, cross‑site correlation, and calibration reviews to maintain consistency across factories
Qualify new CMs and test vendors in partnership with Supply Chain and Quality
Serve as primary escalation point for production test issues and lead cross‑functional resolution
Travel up to 30% for test bring‑up, validation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering (or related field).
7+ years of experience in manufacturing/production test engineering for semiconductor, photonic, lasers, or sensor‑based systems.
Proven experience transferring engineering test processes into high‑throughput, in‑line production test systems.
Hands‑on experience with wafer/die‑level test, optics, amplifiers, PCBA (ATE, probe cards, parametrics, optical alignment) and module‑level system testing.
Proficiency in Python or LabVIEW for test automation, data collection, and analysis.
Strong understanding of analog/mixed‑signal test, signal integrity, and noise reduction.
Experience with SPC, DOE, root cause analysis, and yield improvement.
Strong CM management skills with the ability to influence test execution, throughput, and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in silicon photonics, FMCW LiDAR, or precision analog front ends.
Familiarity with in‑line optical/electrical test for wafer‑level packaging and photonic integration.
Experience scaling test operations across multiple CMs from NPI to volume production.
Knowledge of MES, manufacturing analytics, and automated factory data systems
Benefits
Competitive salary and meaningful equity package
Comprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision)
Unlimited PTO and paid company holidays
Team events and company meetups
Hybrid or remote work environment with monthly travel for remote employees.
Complimentary lunch provided daily at our NYC office
