A leading industrial automation solutions company in the Greater Columbus area is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with strong PLC and system integration experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects from concept through commissioning and wants to work on high-impact automation systems across manufacturing and process industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley and Siemens).
Lead full project lifecycle from design through field startup and troubleshooting.
Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, process, and electrical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Develop detailed control documentation, including I/O lists, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
Support installation, commissioning, and field service as needed (approx. 10–20% travel).
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on assigned projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field preferred.
5+ years of experience in control system design, programming, and integration.
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Siemens TIA Portal.
Experience with VFDs, servo drives, motion control, and industrial communication networks.
Strong understanding of industrial safety systems and standards.
Nice to Have:
Hands-on experience with robotics integration (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, or KUKA).
Familiarity with vision systems, cobots, and motion applications.
Exposure to MES, SCADA data analytics, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
Experience managing or leading small project teams.
