Sales Tax / Exemption Accountant – Siemens
Location: Remote (home office). Salary: $53,760 – $92,160.
Job Overview Responsible for ensuring Siemens Operating Companies comply with sales and use tax exemption documentation requirements. The role reports to the Indirect Tax Manager of Global Business Services and involves providing comprehensive support for transactional taxes, including sales and use taxes, property taxes, business licenses, 1042 compliance, and annual reports.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead the sales tax exemption team
Validate sales tax exemptions and maintain exemption matrices
Develop and conduct sales tax exemption training
Manage taxability troubleshooting and maintain desktop procedures
Generate sales tax exemption campaigns
Secondary Responsibilities
Enter exemption renewals into the Support Portal (ServiceNow) and assign tickets as needed
Review, research, and respond to Level 1 Support Portal tickets
Support sales tax and related indirect tax compliance activities
Projects
Contribute to departmental goals and Siemens balance scorecard targets for financial, customer, process, and employee metrics
Participate in sales tax/exemption projects related to mergers, acquisitions, carveouts, and system migrations
Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree from an accredited university
In-depth knowledge of tax compliance systems
Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience analyzing sales and use taxes
Experience consulting on internal and external customer practices and procedures
Willingness to travel up to 5%
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
3–5 years of sales & use tax or exemption compliance experience
Strong multitasking and attention to detail skills
Customer service focus
Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
Ownership and execution of individual responsibilities and deadlines
Experience with a global organization preferred
Aptitude for adapting to new financial or tax systems
Vertex and/or Avalara certification
