Job Summary
The Shipping Specialist is responsible for preparing, labeling, and dispatching customer orders in a timely and accurate manner. This role ensures that all shipments meet carrier requirements, customer specifications, and company quality standards. The Shipping Specialist works closely with the Picking, Packing, and Receiving teams to maintain a smooth fulfillment process.
Key Responsibilities
Verify completed orders for accuracy, product quality, and packaging standards.
Prepare shipping labels, invoices, and documentation using carrier and warehouse systems.
Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure product safety during transit.
Stage shipments by carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight, etc.) for scheduled pick-ups.
Coordinate daily pickups with shipping carriers and resolve any delivery issues.
Monitor carrier schedules and adjust workflows to meet shipping deadlines.
Track outbound shipments and communicate delays or exceptions as needed.
Ensure shipments meet customer requirements (expedited, international, special handling).
Follow all shipping regulations, including hazardous materials and international export rules (if applicable).
Maintain accurate shipping records for audit and reporting purposes.
Assist in inventory counts, packing, and order staging as needed.
Report shipping errors, damages, or shortages to the Shipping Lead or Manager.
Help keep the shipping area clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
Qualifications
1–2 years of warehouse, shipping, or fulfillment experience (apparel / headwear preferred).
Familiarity with shipping systems and carrier portals (UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, WMS / OMS).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
The role involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
The working environment includes exposure to varying temperatures and warehouse noise.
