Project Controls Analyst
The Project Controls Analyst provides cost engineering and analytical support across all project phasesfrom planning through execution and closeout. This position develops and maintains cost control systems, data models, and dashboards to ensure accurate and consistent analytics across multiple capital and renewable energy projects. The analyst integrates cost and schedule data, enhances financial tracking, and automates reporting workflows to enable data-driven decision-making. This role collaborates closely with project managers, finance teams, and leadership to improve transparency, identify trends, forecast project performance, and recommend cost-saving measures. Strong data analytics, communication, and process improvement capabilities are essential. Organizational Responsibilities
Develop and maintain project cost control systems, reports, and dashboards using Power BI, Oracle Fusion, and ProjectTeam. Track and analyze project costs, forecasts, commitments, and variances across portfolios of renewable and infrastructure projects. Integrate cost and schedule data to provide accurate earned value and progress reporting. Lead automation initiatives using SQL queries and Excel macros to reduce manual data entry and enhance reporting integrity. Develop and standardize cost forecasting models to improve project visibility and decision-making. Collaborate with finance, procurement, and project management to align budgets with contract obligations and financial systems. Support KPI development for project and portfolio performance, ensuring data quality and consistency across platforms. Prepare and present detailed cost and schedule analyses to project and executive leadership. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements in project financial tracking. Support the implementation of new project controls tools and digital workflows to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy. Maintain historical cost data and benchmarks to improve future estimate accuracy. Perform "what-if" analyses and scenario modeling to assess the impact of cost or schedule changes. Ensure adherence to cost control policies, corporate governance, and financial standards. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field required. 5+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or project analytics within the construction or renewable energy industries required. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards using Power BI, Oracle, or equivalent systems required. Advanced skills in Excel, SQL, and process automation required. Experience with cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis for large-scale capital projects is required. Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial and project data to provide actionable insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical audiences. Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams including finance, procurement, and project management. Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Professional certifications such as PMP, AACE CCP, or PMI-SP are preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and experience in multinational project environments are desirable. Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen. Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
