In this exciting role, you will play a crucial part in shaping fire protection strategies for our global data center fleet. Your work will encompass fire suppression, detection, alarm systems, mass notification systems, and life safety strategies. By partnering with various teams, you will ensure that our fire protection features are not only compliant but also protect both people and critical data seamlessly throughout the building's lifecycle. Join us in enhancing our fire protection design standards. Responsibilities Lead project initiatives, conducting water supply analyses and designing fire service connections, collaborating with utilities and fire officials to meet site infrastructure needs. Oversee fire protection system requirements, ensuring alignment of utilities and construction specifications for related trades. Create designs for fire suppression, alarm, and detection systems, and review performance-based design elements to support organizational objectives. Review designs across disciplines to confirm adherence to fire protection design standards; manage direct performance reviews as necessary. Empower contractors with essential information to build data centers accurately and support operational teams with maintenance knowledge. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, from design teams to local authorities, as part of our global community. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in fire protection or a related engineering field, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Over 10 years of combined experience in design engineering or fire protection-related construction. Proficiency with local codes, NFPA standards, and ICC requirements. Experience in design review, specifying development, and evaluating submissions. Ability to interpret construction documents across all trades. Licensed Fire Protection Engineer. This position requires up to 25% travel. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing white papers, technical documents, and training resources. Background in data center construction or large-scale mechanical and power systems. Previous roles as a fire marshal, plans examiner, or inspector. Comprehensive knowledge of ICC codes and NFPA standards. Engagement in code and standard development processes. Experience applying performance-based design approaches to fire protection. Advanced understanding of mechanical and electrical systems commissioning. Strong business analytics capabilities. About Amazon Amazon is committed to equal opportunity employment. Our compensation structure reflects competitive labor costs across various US geographic markets, with the base pay for this role ranging from $128,600 to $212,800 per year, based on experience and location.
