Allen Independent School District
Support specialized classrooms within the district in the implementation of modified and alternative curriculum, classroom and behavior management, and the designing of meaningful and engaging lessons for all students. Model and facilitate ongoing, imbedded quality staff development. Serve as a liaison between campus and Special Services. Assist Special Services Coordinator and Director of Special Education with planning, coaching and facilitating staff and student learning.

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in special education Master's preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
Able to articulate the relationship of General Education curriculum and Specially Designed Instruction. Understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and vertical alignment of skills to pre-requisite levels Knowledge of specific evidence-based behavior interventions and strategies for all students Knowledge of how to provide services for students in alignment with students' individualized education programs Strong organizational skills Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills Experience:
Minimum of five years teaching experience of students with disabilities. Experience in professional development presentations Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with coordinators and campus staff in the design and development of instructional and behavioral resources for specialized programs. Consult with teachers and principals with implementation of curriculum, accommodations, modifications for students placed in specialized programs. Assist in training staff in implementing instructional activities, accommodations, and behavioral supports for students. Assists teachers in the development of appropriately leveled lessons and materials. Consult with teachers in the use of appropriate data collection and documentation to measure student progress. Assist staff with the development and implementation of IEPs in compliance with legal requirements. Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior, understanding principles of reinforcement, teaching new behavior, implementing strategies for weakening behavior, identifying antecedents, and developing appropriate behavior intervention plans. Work cooperatively with campus staff by providing professional development that targets current research, evidenced based strategies, positive behavior supports, and modeling of instructional practices. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Attend scheduled special services department meetings and campus PLC meetings upon request. Organizes and schedules time commitments to meet the demands of the job. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved instructional techniques. Collaborate and consult regularly with other professionals Perform other activities and duties as required or assigned by the Special Services coordinators, Director of Special Education, or Executive Director Special Services Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times. Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others. Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe. Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers.
