Citi Investment Banking (IB) provides advisory, debt and equity capital markets solutions for corporations, governments, and financial institutions in countries around the globe. The main products and services that support the Investment Banking segment includes: Origination & Underwriting on both Debt and Equity issuances, Strategic Advisory, and Valuation services.

Position Overview

The Investment Banking (IB) Finance Director is a senior finance leadership position responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and decision support across multiple business areas. The Director will support the IB Lead Finance Officer (LFO). The Director will partner with and act as a trusted advisor to the M&A business head, Banking Business Execution head, lead all cross IB initiatives, and will be a part of the Investment Banking finance leadership team. The candidate will manage resources that provide LFO support, engage and lead the relationships with business partners through execution of key priorities, providing thoughtful challenge and insightful analysis.

The LFO team plays a key role in the day-to-day financial management of the business. The team has ownership of the overall budget and plan, is accountable for business review insights, will partner across the firm to ensure a deep understanding of financial investments, resource management, strategic activities driving growth while balancing efficiency, the execution of the business strategy, and achievement of the target operating model.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with and act as a trusted advisor to business partners for all strategic and tactical financial business decisions

Engage and drive the relationship with business partners through strategic leadership, execution of key priorities, thoughtful challenge, and insightful analysis

Lead the strategy, execution and implementation of finance specific programs, projects and/or exercises

Formulate the overall budget and forecast planning, through engagement with business and other partners; ensure financial targets are met, provide insightful input into drivers needed for dynamic decision making

Accountable for business reviews, QBRs, metrics and reporting, in partnership with other key business contacts, ensuring both the financial and strategic story aligns with overall business strategy

Responsible for oversight and approval of changes to an approved plan or outlook for day-to-day execution and strategic efforts

Drive and have accountability for reviewing investment strategies, having a deep understanding of business cases, fully understanding the proposed work and being able to articulate the outcomes and benefits of the investments

Define and monitor KPIs to drive accountability

Drive opportunities and the execution of optimization and efficiencies

Provide strategy for driving change within the team inclusive of transformation efforts, e. g., process efficiency, standardization, etc.

Drive risk & control agenda including data accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and metrics; identify, assess, and escalate risks

Partner with Risk and Compliance to maintain a strong control environment

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Finance or related fields, with experience interacting with and influencing senior managers, leading, and managing C-level leaders

Proven track record of building strong relationships with senior executives

Experience within financial services

Experience providing financial analysis for monthly forecasts, strategic multi-year forecasts, and annual budgets

Exceptional analytical skills, combined with an ability to deliver analysis in a concise manner

Strong leadership skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams

Excellent communication skills (written / verbal)

Results/task orientated with excellent attention to detail

Ability to manage and prioritize effectively and resolve conflicting priorities

Experience in business/corporate strategy is a plus

Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
