University of California, Riverside Position Information The NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) Program Specialist reports to the NAGPRA Repatriation Coordinator who is the University employee assigned responsibility for facilitating the daily implementation of NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA, especially as amended by AB 275, and curatorial projects in compliance with the related regulations as supported by the UCR Chancellor’s Designee. The NAGPRA Program Specialist will assist the NAGPRA Repatriation Coordinator in the identification and documentation of human remains, returning objects, investigating, database maintenance, communication and administrative duties to ensure compliance. The full salary range for the NAGPRA Program Specialist is $28.88 - $46.46 per hour. Requirements Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Native American Studies, History, Museum Studies or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Anthropology, Native American Studies, History, Museum Studies or a related field. Ph.D. in a related area. Experience Requirements 1 year working of experience in curatorial work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with culturally sensitive artifacts. Experience working with archaeological methods and archaeological collections. Experience identifying and documenting human remains. Experience consulting with representatives of Native American Tribes, Native Hawaiian Organizations, and/or Alaskan Native Villages under NAGPRA. Experience with Microsoft Suite Programs; with an emphasis in Word & Excel. Experience working with data software management. Experience working with archival records. Experience working with archaeological collections and data associated with Radiocarbon Dating. Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) legislation and compliance. Knowledge of Radiocarbon Dating Methods and History in Archaeology. Ability to establish goals, workload priorities, and to follow through to successful completion. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate in a clear, professional, and sensitive manner. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Californian Native American Tribes both contemporary and historical. Knowledge of Californian Archaeology both history and literature.
