Key Responsibilities

System Design & Engineering:

Design, develop, and specify control systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Develop and review engineering deliverables, including P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), instrument index, data sheets, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and loop diagrams.

Perform sizing calculations and select appropriate field instruments (e.g., flow meters, pressure transmitters, level sensors, control valves, shutoff valves) for hydrocarbon service.

Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS):

Design, implement, and maintain Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), including Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems and Burner Management Systems (BMS).

Participate in safety reviews like HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) verification studies to ensure functional safety compliance.

Control Logic & Software:

Develop, implement, and troubleshoot PLC/DCS/SCADA programming and graphics, including advanced control strategies ($text{PID}$ loop tuning and optimization).

Coordinate with operations to test and commission new control logic and system modifications.

Standards and Compliance:

Ensure all designs and modifications strictly comply with relevant industry codes and standards, including API, ISA, IEC, NFPA/NEC, and company-specific engineering standards.

Manage technical assurance and quality control for I&C vendor packages and submittals.

Troubleshooting & Support:

Provide expert-level technical support for complex control and instrumentation system failures, minimizing downtime during both normal operations and major shutdowns (TARs).

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering.

Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in Instrumentation and Controls engineering within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Chemical Processing industries.

Technical Expertise:

Strong practical experience with major industrial control platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell TDC/Experion, Siemens, Allen-Bradley PLC).

Proficiency in designing and reviewing instrumentation for hazardous (explosion-proof) areas and knowledge of associated electrical classifications.

In-depth understanding of control theory, control valve performance, and analyzer system integration (Analyzer Engineer experience is a plus).
