Key Responsibilities
Develop structural designs and perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand environmental and human‑induced stresses (e.g., wind, seismic activity, gravity loads)
Assist in managing structural engineering projects from conceptual design through construction, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and specifications
Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to develop and refine design solutions that meet project goals and comply with building codes
Conduct on‑site inspections to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with design specifications and ensure structural integrity
Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports using computer‑aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, PSBeam, MDX, or SAP2000)
Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including the Ohio Department of Transportation design and construction standards, AASHTO, AISC, ACI, and ASTM
Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates to determine project viability and recommend appropriate materials and construction methods
Address technical challenges during design and construction phases, providing innovative and practical solutions
What We’re Looking For
B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering with coursework that includes Prestressed Concrete, Structural Steel, Finite Elements, and Structural Mechanics
A passion for bridge design, analysis, and inspections
Strong communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a team environment
