About the Role As an Estimator, you will develop accurate estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to gather necessary information and deliver competitive bids.
What You’ll Do
Estimation and Bid Preparation: Analyze project plans and specs to determine scope, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors; develop detailed cost estimates.
Cost Analysis: Evaluate methods and materials to find cost‑effective solutions while maintaining quality and safety.
Proposal Development: Prepare comprehensive bid proposals for RFPs and ensure alignment with project requirements and company capabilities.
Risk Assessment: Identify and assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Bid Review and Presentation: Review bids with the management team and present estimates, assumptions, and methodologies to stakeholders and clients.
Subcontractor and Supplier Management: Qualify and select subcontractors and suppliers, maintain relationships, and ensure accurate pricing for bids.
Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement, and propose alternative solutions.
Knowledge Management: Maintain a database of historical cost data and industry trends to continuously improve estimation processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
3‑5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction or electrical trade market, focusing on complex projects.
In‑depth knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Procore, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for detailed quantity take‑offs and cost calculations.
Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents accurately.
Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors and suppliers.
Detail‑oriented, high level of accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
