Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst (BA) plays a critical role in ensuring that business needs are effectively translated into technical solutions.

This position involves working on multiple complex projects and applications, serving as a subject matter expert across several domains.

The Senior BA will collaborate closely with both software development teams and business stakeholders to ensure that systems being built, enhanced, or implemented align with business objectives and functional requirements.

Responsibilities

Work on multiple projects/applications as a key project team member and subject matter expert.

Identify and communicate business needs for complex software solutions by translating them into detailed functional and non-functional requirements.

Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements using appropriate methodologies and tools.

Participate in and facilitate customer and project team meetings throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Serve as a liaison between business partners and development teams to deliver technical solutions that meet user needs.

Utilize requirements elicitation techniques such as workshops, interviews, and shadowing to gather insights from users and stakeholders.

Develop comprehensive business and functional requirements documentation, including use case narratives, diagrams, and requirements traceability.

Explain data flow concepts, document data movement, and ensure shared understanding between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Create and maintain user story maps, process flow diagrams, and screen designs in Lucidchart.

Create and maintain user stories in JIRA.

Collaborate closely with API developers to define API service calls, ensuring request/response formats meet business and technical needs.

Explain complex data flows using visual tools and ensure accuracy in representing data transformations and storage.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

This is an on-site position requiring presence in the office five days a week.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience working on data integration projects.

At least 2 years of experience in: Advanced use of tools for requirements elicitation and documentation.

Integration and user acceptance testing.

Advanced knowledge of requirements elicitation techniques, business modeling, and use case design.

Deep understanding of information systems and software development life cycles.

Experience defining and collaborating on API service calls, including defining request and response formats.

Experience creating and explaining data flow diagrams to diverse audiences using visualization tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in state or local government, especially within the Georgia Criminal Justice System.

Advanced experience in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.

Project Management Professional (PMP) or ITIL Foundation certification.

Proficiency with Lucidchart and JIRA.
