Description Leidos is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead innovative fuze design and engineering efforts. You'll play a crucial role in supporting advanced research and development activities for cutting-edge fuze and fuze setting systems at DEVCOM Armaments Center. Key Responsibilities Drive R&D initiatives for the creation of modern fuzes and setting systems, engaging in design reviews, hardware fabrication, testing, performance assessments, and experimental validation. Lead the enhancement of fuze designs through advanced FEA simulations, material selection, and process optimization. Produce comprehensive Technical Data Packages utilizing CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) to develop 3D models and 2D drawings, ensuring compliance with MIL, ASME, and other relevant standards. Document detailed technical reports to communicate designs, test outcomes, and engineering analyses to internal and external stakeholders. Oversee project management within established budgets and timelines, aligning efforts with program objectives and customer expectations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts and functional peer group managers, to facilitate informed decision-making and ensure project success. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (advanced degrees preferred). 5-7 years of experience in electro-mechanical fuzing and associated systems, covering design, testing, and manufacturing. Proficient with commercial CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) and Configuration Management (CM) tools. Experience in FEA analysis (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys) and material selection for high-stress conditions. Strong understanding of fuze design concepts, MIL standards, and manufacturing techniques. Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent technical writing and communication skills, capable of preparing reports and presentations. U.S. citizenship required. Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00 Leidos offers a competitive pay range based on various factors including responsibilities, education, experience, and skills.
