Position: Mechanical Design Engineer (SolidWorks)
Location: Worcester, Worcestershire, UK
Salary: £45K - £55K depending on experience

PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading manufacturer of full turnkey solutions and Test Equipment delivered to prestigious manufacturer’s worldwide within industries such as Aerospace, Automotive/Motorsport & Marine. Due to team expansion and successfully winning new business, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in which you will be involved in exciting projects and support some of the worlds well known and A-listed manufacturers.
As Mechanical Design Engineer, ideally you will have experience and background within rotating equipment; such as, compressors, turbines, pumps, motors, engine test equipment and/or machinery that operates through rotational motion.
Job Overview
We are looking for a creative Mechanical Engineer to work on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. The goal is to design and engineer dynamometer and related system mechanical components of innovation and excellence.
Responsibilities
Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
Design and provide drawings for systems and components that meet needs and requirements
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
Supports the Production and Commissioning Departments during equipment build and installation.
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Test and evaluate theoretical designs
Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety
Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
Prepare product reports and documentation including but not limited to operational manuals, produce specifications, etc.
Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Requirements
Preferably 5 years proven working experience in mechanical engineering
Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
Experience with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools. Preferably Solid Works (e.g., AutoCAD or other)
Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (MATLAB, Excel, LabView etc)
Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
Creativity and analytical skills
Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
Strong technical writing skills
Manufacturing experience
Dynamometer engineering experienced
BSME degree
