Description
Join the National Security Sector with Leidos as an essential Engineering Technician. Become a vital member of the Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, where you will engage with advanced naval technology, ensuring the Navy's towed array systems are always prepared for mission success.
Responsibilities:
Contribute significantly to the repair and production of towed array systems.
Troubleshoot and repair module assemblies at the component level.
Manufacture and assemble hose and tow cables meticulously, maintaining high-quality standards.
Work independently on standardized assignments while ensuring technical adequacy with guidance when needed.
Construct components, sub-units, or simple models, modifying standard equipment as required.
Conduct tests and experiments, making minor adjustments to test setups and procedures.
Extract, compile, and process engineering data to identify and resolve inconsistencies.
Assist in design modifications by compiling relevant data on design, specifications, and materials.
Gather information on operational failures and modifications, using initiative to identify and address data inconsistencies.
Basic Qualifications: High school diploma, vocational school diploma, or GED certificate.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret level clearance (minimum of a DOD Interim secret level clearance to start).
Proficient with standard computer operations and Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications: Completed soldering and/or fiber-optic termination/connectorization certification/training.
Hands-on experience with industrial equipment used in module hosing/dehosing, pressure and tension testing, and automated/semi-automated electronic testing.
Experience in performing electronic repairs at the component level using copper and fiber optic signal path repair techniques.
Background in manufacturing hose assemblies and sonar array tow cables, following documented quality standards.
Compensation:
This position is governed by the Service Contract Act and offers a competitive hourly wage of $20.74.
