Summary As a Foreman, this position is responsible for providing marine project leadership by directing field activities through the laborers who report to this position. The Foreman works closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and other skilled or semi‑skilled craft workers on the job site.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate site construction activities including crane lifts and barge‑mooring, implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and emergency response plans.
Supervise day‑to‑day tasks related to marine construction projects to ensure successful completion, including communicating potential challenges and resolving problems related to job equipment, materials, and personnel requirements.
Coordinate project objectives and plans with Russell Marine craft and other trades.
Complete all necessary documentation including daily job logs, inspections/observations, job safety analysis, and crew time.
Attend required meetings and trainings (e.g., pre‑construction planning meetings).
Maintain a good working relationship with the Superintendent or Project Manager, seeking assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Promote Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance with state/federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education: Must possess a TWIC or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire; must have a valid driver’s license.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of marine construction experience in piledriving, pier construction, work barges, or equivalent experience supervising crews on large‑scale projects.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English; demonstrate knowledge of marine construction practices and materials, general equipment, cranes, and rigging.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of marine construction experience in piledriving, pier construction, work barges, or equivalent experience supervising crews on large‑scale projects.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
Must wear and properly utilize appropriate PPE; includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, personal flotation devices, etc.
Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, temperature changes, outdoor conditions, dust, wet/humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
May be required to work long hours, weekends, and out‑of‑town or overnight travel; may be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.
May be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move between locations on the job site; may need to lift objects up to 10 lbs. solo or 50 lbs. single‑person lift.
May be required to perform repetitive movements and work in confined spaces or elevated heights.
