Under the supervision and direction of the Athletic Trainer for Campus Recreation, PRN Athletic Trainers will serve on a team responsible for supporting the Club Sports Program with game and event coverage. This part-time position is ideal for certified athletic trainers who are passionate about athlete safety and care in a dynamic university environment. Work hours are primarily evenings and weekends, based on competition and event schedules. Specific responsibilities include: Perform pregame preparation and provide event coverage for Club Sports competitions. Serve as a first responder and provide first aid to Club Sports participants. Triage and assess injuries, providing immediate care and appropriate referrals to physicians when needed. Monitor weather conditions and confirm plan with Competitive Sports Supervisor providing oversight to the event. Collaboratively work with Competitive Sports Supervisor at events. Document/communicate with full-time Athletic Trainer regarding injury status, care plans, and any after-hours concerns. Assist in rehabilitation efforts and coordinate with Club Sport coaches and athletes on return-to-play decisions. Additional duties as assigned, depending on the nature of each event. Position qualifications: A bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field, plus one year of athletic training experience is required. A master's degree in athletic training or related field is preferred. BOC certification is required. Individual must be a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Pennsylvania. CPR/AED certification for Healthcare Providers is required. Individual must have evening and weekend availability. Job requirements: Must complete the following annual trainings and clearances: Penn State Annual Compliance Training Mandated Reporter Training PA State Police Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license Ability to be alert and responsive to potential injuries or safety issues Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate effectively with athletes, administrators, and coaches Ability to provide leadership and guidance to ensure a safe environment for all participants Strong clinical decision-making skills Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment Prior experience with Club or Recreational sports preferred Working conditions: This position requires physical activity and the ability to stand for extended periods during sporting events. Athletic Trainers must be able to respond promptly in emergency situations and provide care in both indoor and outdoor environments. Athletic Trainers are provided the following: Standard Order to Practice (SOP) signed by the Team Physician, supplies and athletic training kit, game day setup, and insurance coverage. Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides recreation and wellbeing programs to the campus community through operation and administration of the following: Intramural Building, McCoy Natatorium, Stone Valley Recreation Area, Tennis Center, White Building, Hepper Fitness Center, Aquatics, Athletic Training, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellbeing, Intramural Sports, and Outdoor Adventures.
