Description

Primary Function:

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Accounting, the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting activities such as, preparing and posting daily and month-end journal entries, accurately updating monthly schedules from various resources, performing daily and monthly reconciliations on various financial accounts, developing accurate and timely financial reports, and other special projects as requested. This position will also provide backup coverage for various functions within the Department of Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Daily create and post journal entries and reconcile various financial accounts. Update daily banking cash activities in the financial system as well as in the logs. On a monthly basis, ensure the accuracy of all month-end journal entries created and posted to the appropriate general ledger accounts, the reconciliation of cash accounts to the bank statement, and the accuracy of the financial statements. Update Debt, Depreciation and Fixed Asset Schedules whenever changes occur and provide a monthly report highlighting the change and or financial status. Prepare monthly reconciliations for leases according to GASB standards. Prepare monthly schedules for borrowing and depreciation entries for accurate and consistent reporting of assets. Post Purchasing Card receipts. Assist in the preparation and reviewal of financial agreements. In conjunction with department staff, assists in the preparation of the audit PBC list materials for assigned areas. Complete variance analysis reports as requested under minimal supervision. Assist with department tax compliance. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. Upholds the confidentiality of proprietary information and takes all necessary precautions to prevent unauthorized disclosure of sensitive materials. Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, vendors and management and functions as an effective team member. Performs other related duties and special projects incidental to the work described herein.

Position Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

Licensure:

CPA preferred

Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years accounting experience in a healthcare setting required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and possesses ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
