Engagement Specialist (ES) Reports To

Manager of MCRT Crisis Services Position Type

Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week Location

Community-Based Summary

The Engagement Specialist (ES) provides recovery?oriented, person?centered, and trauma?informed crisis services; advocates for and supports individuals in emergency settings. The ES works collaboratively with Crisis Specialists to respond to community crises, provide case management, and facilitate appropriate referrals and linkages within 90 days of the initial assessment. ES certification is required or must be obtained within one year of employment. Schedule

Minimum 4 eight?hour shifts per week, including two weekend or overnight (12?8?am) shifts. Shifts may be weekdays, weekends, overnight, or holidays. At least one walk?in shift per month. Additional hours include meetings, case management, walk?ins, SASS shifts, and miscellaneous tasks as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Respond to crisis calls for designated areas and times in tandem with a Crisis Specialist, providing peer support, information, and advocacy. Provide case management and linkage to services for clients engaged in Crisis Services. Collaborate with families, children, agency staff, and community providers. Educate, support, and mentor individuals and families receiving services through MCRT and SASS programs. Assist and empower clients to make informed decisions about all aspects of treatment. Co?respond 75 % of the time (? 28?h?wk); 20 % (? 7.5?h?wk) for walk?in hours, case management, and administrative duties; 5 % (? 2?h?wk) for supervision/meetings. Consult regularly with Therapist/Crisis Specialists regarding shared clients. Maintain a resource directory for the geographic area served by FSA Crisis Services programs.

Supervision

Attend a minimum of nine monthly group supervisions per year; participate in clinical, individual, or group supervision as needed. Report ongoing problematic situations, cases, or emergency actions to supervisor.

Administrative Responsibilities

Stay current on Medicaid Rules 132 and 140. Complete all necessary clinical paperwork in a timely manner; service notes within seven days of delivery. Complete agency administrative paperwork (e.g., CIS billing, timesheets, expense sheets, training forms). Attend meetings, serve on agency or program committees, and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license.

Community Education and Public Relations

Educate community, agency staff, and providers about the needs of parents and families with children with mental illness. Facilitate positive networking relationships with community service providers.

Other Duties, Special Assignments, and Projects

Attend agency groups and provide skill?building support as requested. Develop materials and participate in community education projects or presentations. Perform incidental travel for business as needed. Participate in risk management and continuous quality improvement activities. Promote collegiality and maintain workplace positive attitude. Report any equipment damage or loss immediately to supervisor.

Training

Complete annual training requirements and maintain IM?CAT certification. Maintain additional HFS?required trainings. Acquire training on private insurance and unfunded adults. Participate in ongoing training assigned by supervisor as relevant to community and professional goals.

Physical and Environmental Considerations

The incumbent will work in the field, traveling to client homes, schools, libraries, community agencies, and occasional office time. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting up to 35?lbs. Frequent travel and variable temperatures and noise levels are expected. Full?time, 37.5?hour work week; day?time and on?call availability required. Hourly Pay Rates

Travel

Extensive travel throughout the Kane and DeKalb County areas and occasionally outside those areas. Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED or higher education. Reliable personal transportation, valid Illinois driver's license, and satisfactory driving history with current automobile insurance. Lived experience as a consumer of mental health services. Professional experience in human services with diverse populations. Ability to recognize trauma symptoms and support healing and recovery for youth exposed to trauma. Knowledge of childhood trauma and/or experience working with youth who have been exposed to trauma.

Required Skills and Abilities

Flexible, independent, and able to multi?task effectively. Willingness to travel and work weekend and evening hours. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong time?management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem?solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Spanish preferred. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and have mediation skills.
