Four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, risk management, science, environmental health or customer service

required.

Abachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university,

OR an associate’s degree

and

(2) years of the required experience may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience.

Ability to follow directions and complete task as assigned in a timely and efficient manner.

Two (2) years of relevant experience conducting audits, examinations, inspections and/or investigations.

One (1) year of customer service experience.

A valid Driver’s License.

Preferences:

One (1) year of relevant experience in compliance with Chapter 497, Florida Statutes or funeral industry regulation.

Must be willing or capable of being in proximity of deceased human remains and the equipment, instruments and supplies used to prepare deceased human remains.

This position requires to travel 75% - 100% of your job and travels overnight and weekends if needed.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

The starting salary for this position is $38,264.07 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of financial accounting or auditing principles; Knowledge of the methods of compiling, analyzing and presenting data; Knowledge of the techniques utilized in conducting examinations or investigations of commercial banks, trust companies, savings associations, credit unions, international offices, securities or finance companies, or insurance companies; Knowledge of monitoring techniques; Knowledge of mathematics; Ability to review, analyze and evaluate data; Ability to examine financial records; Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Ability to conduct research and prepare reports; Ability to probe and obtain critical facts; Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Ability to recognize the validity, authenticity and propriety of accounting and operating records; Ability to coordinate training programs; Ability to work independently; Ability to effectively use computer hardware and software.

Brief Description of Duties

This position will be responsible for the following in reference to Chapter 497, Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services:

Conduct regulatory compliance inspections and complaint investigations

Conduct of simple, regulatory compliance examinations, assist with complex examinations

Comply with the mandatory annual inspection schedule for all funeral establishments, direct disposal establishments, central embalming establishments, cinerator facilities, refrigeration facilities, removal services and monument establishments, burial right brokers, and cemetery companies

Review and analyze reports and documents submitted by licensees, trustees, accountants, and others

Maintain records on inspections, examinations, and complaints

Assist in scheduling compliance inspections and examinations

Answer questions and inquiries from the public or regulated institutions relative to the Statutes of established policy of procedures.

Assist with consumer services outreach presentations that involve Chapter 497.

Requires you to be capable of being in close proximity of deceased human remains and the equipment, instruments and supplies used to prepare deceased human remains.

Performs related and responsibilities duties as required.
