Role Overview We are seeking an experienced
Commodity Business Partner
to drive strategic sourcing, supplier management, and spend optimization for our IT and engineering software categories. This role partners closely with global stakeholders, leveraging data-driven insights to develop category strategies, manage supplier relationships, and deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing
Conduct market analysis, anticipate trends, and develop category strategies with GSP leadership and business stakeholders.
Lead opportunity assessments, supplier negotiations, and performance management for your portfolio.
Support development of category best practices, sourcing templates, and processes, including RFx/vendor evaluation, contracts, and negotiations.
Develop global sourcing strategies, aligning rates and supplier support across regions.
Lead RFx creation, supplier communications, market research, data analysis, and contract development/redlining (pricing, terms, SOWs, MSAs).
Conduct supplier negotiations and quarterly performance reviews for top-tier suppliers.
Build and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
Spend Management
Support projects to optimize spend, achieve savings, and improve process efficiency.
Ensure accurate transactions and compliance with company policies.
Drive initiatives for supplier consolidation, risk management, and enhanced expenditure visibility.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with business owners to capture requirements and execute category strategies.
Develop supplier award scenarios and provide recommendations for evaluation and decision‑making.
Partner with finance, legal, security, and other functions to ensure compliance and proper approvals.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills; data‑driven decision‑making.
Ability to mentor and coach junior buyers.
Skilled in managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication; collaborative and customer‑focused.
Highly organized, self‑directed, and resourceful with a strong work ethic.
Tech‑savvy with interest in working with advanced procurement tools and technology.
Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
8+ years in indirect procurement, sourcing, supplier negotiations, and category strategy development.
Domain Expertise:
Software, Cloud, SaaS, and IT/Engineering software sourcing.
Global Experience:
Exposure to virtual teams, multi‑cultural environments, financial controls, and compliance regulations.
Technical Skills:
Procurement software (SAP, Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, ServiceNow), Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Tableau preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, or related field. Industry certifications in procurement/supply chain/project management preferred.
Soft Skills Excellent communication, collaboration, and advanced analytical skills.
