Georgia State University invites you to apply for the Administrative Specialist – Academic role in the First-Year & Transition Programs Department at the Atlanta Campus.
This position focuses on retaining first‑year undergraduate students through recruitment, onboarding, and instructional support. You will partner with Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, and the Office of Student Success to design events, manage communications, and deliver programs that support student progression.
Essential Job Functions
Coordinate campus partner outreach (Admissions, Financial Aid, University Housing) to create engaging events supporting recruitment of First‑Year Transition Programs (FYTP) students.
Recruit current GSU students into FYTP programs such as Accelerator, GSU 1050, and Transition Scholars.
Plan and execute marketing and communication initiatives to promote recruitment and retention.
Represent GSU at high‑school recruiting events, including college fairs, classroom visits, and counselor sessions.
Ensure successful onboarding of students (admissions, FAFSA, New Student Orientation).
Assist with administrative tasks related to student recruitment and onboarding.
Support engagement activities and events that facilitate the smooth transition from high school to college.
Answer email inquiries from students, families, faculty, and staff regarding FYTP programs.
Provide administrative support for program‐level initiatives, presentations, workshops, and outreach events.
Teach GSU 1010.
Minimum Hiring Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of administrative experience; OR high school diploma or GED and eight years of administrative experience; OR a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications Master’s degree and experience creating and implementing retention and progression programs; proven ability to present to small and large groups; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Salary and Benefits Salary:
$48,000 per year.
