Development Intern
The New Orleans Development Intern is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising and donor engagement activities in New Orleans that advance Generation Hope's mission. The Development Intern will work primarily with the New Orleans Director of Development as part of the Advancement team, but will also collaborate with other Generation Hope staff on special projects. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor communications, event planning, and data management. The Development Intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to a project that aligns with their skills and interests. Examples could include assisting with donor stewardship materials, helping to coordinate a fundraising campaign, or supporting the logistics of an event. Candidates are expected to participate in this internship at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 7 weeks. Candidates who can volunteer additional time are preferred. You will receive an incentive of $1,400 for your participation in the internship program. This incentive is intended to support the costs you may incur during your internship at Generation Hope, such as childcare. Internships will run from November 2025 through December 2025, with some flexibility on starting and ending dates. The internship will be largely remote with some in person meetings and events. Interns must be located in the Greater New Orleans area during the time of the internship. Responsibilities
Maintain donor records and update database entries Conduct research on prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors Draft and edit donor communications, including thank-you letters, updates, and impact stories Assist with preparation of fundraising and event materials Support planning and logistics for fundraising events and campaigns, including end-of-year giving Track campaign performance and assist with basic fundraising reports Provide administrative support such as mailings, acknowledgements, and scheduling Attend weekly staff meetings and occasional evening/weekend events Qualifications
High School Diploma required. Preference will be given to candidates with some college experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs and Google Workspace Detail oriented. Personal and professional commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism Strong writing skills. Self-directed and able to carry through projects with little oversight in a largely remote environment. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10lbs at times. Work Environment: Normal office environment. Some work will take place offsite. To apply, please complete the online application here.
