Overview

Kimley-Horn's Oakland office is seeking a Roadway Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join their Roadway team! This position is in-person/in-office.

Responsibilities

Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of civil engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Horizontal and vertical alignments

Grading and Drainage design

Streetscape and roadway improvements

Multimodal design, including multi-use trails and complete streets

Signage, striping and signalization plans

As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions

Collaborate with the design team to develop detailed and efficient roadway designs, ensuring compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and project specifications

Assist in the development of project plans, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for roadway infrastructure projects

Select appropriate materials and prepare engineering specifications for road construction and maintenance projects

Create alignment and geometric designs for roads, intersections, and other transportation facilities, considering safety and accessibility for all users

Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for roadway projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing plans, addressing design issues, and overseeing project progress

Conduct inspections and quality control checks to ensure the implementation of design standards and specifications

Integrate environmental considerations into roadway design, considering factors such as stormwater management and environmental impact assessments

Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects

You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships

You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors

Qualifications

2+ years experience with a civil engineering design firm

Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering

"Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

Working knowledge of MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines

Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment

Ability to work independently and as a team

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $140,000
