Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Manual Machinist
to plan, set up, modify, and operate a wide range of conventional machine tools with precision. The
Manual Machinist
will be responsible for producing parts to exacting tolerances and finishes using equipment such as engine lathes, radial drills, mills (Bridgeport, Mecof), TOS mills, and broach machines. This position requires excellent mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality production standards.
Key Responsibilities •
Plan machining operations , including part holding, alignment, and tooling selection. •
Read and interpret complex blueprints and sketches
to determine machining requirements. •
Operate a variety of manual machines , including lathes, drills, and mills. • Perform
mathematical computations
to ensure accuracy and proper tool adjustments. • Use
precision measuring instruments
(micrometers, calipers, indicators) to verify tolerances and finishes. •
Perform layouts, bench operations, grinding, and tool setup
for special machining configurations. •
Assist fellow machinists
in setups and provide on-the-job training when needed. •
Support maintenance
by performing minor servicing and cleaning of machines. •
Operate cranes, forklifts, and other power equipment
safely as required. •
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area , following all company and ISO 9000 standards. •
Ensure compliance
with JHA safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.
Qualifications • Completion of
Trade or Technical School
program (2-4 years) or equivalent hands-on experience. • Proficient with
advanced shop mathematics
and precision measuring instruments. •
3-5 years of manual machining experience
preferred. • Ability to
read and write English
and interpret complex technical documents. • Must be authorized to
work in the United States . • Strong
hand-eye coordination
and ability to work safely in
hot or cold environments . • Must provide and maintain
personal hand tools
meeting company calibration requirements.
Physical Requirements •
Prolonged standing
and frequent
walking, bending, kneeling, and twisting . • Ability to
lift up to 50 lbs
safely. • Capable of working in
varied temperature environments .
