The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store, as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times. They are also responsible for executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed. Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Safety is the top priority; maintain high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment. Immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership. Responsible for building security including entrance/exit control, EAS devices daily function check, Cash Office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area. Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits. Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures. Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.

Customer Service

Treats all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect. Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism. Recognizes Associates using Company recognition programs.

Personal And Store Brand

Represents and supports the Company brand at all times. Maintains professional appearance per Company Dress Code. Ensures Associates adhere to the Dress Code. Keeps all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard. Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards. Receives merchandise trucks when needed. Processes merchandise with urgency. Handles receipt of non-merchandise inbound deliveries. Maintains cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms. Assists with delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor. Secures back-stock and processes per Company policy. Merchandises department including back stock. Aims to reduce loss due to damage and complies with monthly presentation guidelines. Responsible for floor moves and signing, including promotional signing. Handles re-wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

Performs Loss Prevention activities and maintains a strong customer service presence on the sales floor. Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information. Maintains Public View Monitor (PVM) system. Conducts Code 50 inspections. Maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches where possible.

Front-End Supervision And Operations

Executes Company Best Practices to maximize productivity. Manages line pace to reduce wait times. Trains and coaches on cash registers and shortage control policies. Manages break schedules. Ensures equipment is working and supplies are available. Ensures go-backs are scanned, tagged, and ticketed. Teaches the "Scan and Bag" best practice. Maintains salability of merchandise at the Front End.

Fitting Rooms

Maintains cleanliness of Fitting Rooms. Audits garment tags and ensures go-back compliance and proper ticketing/scanning/security tagging as needed.

Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager

Handles cash pulls and deposits per policy. Oversees Front End control when needed. Follows policies on refunds, associate purchases, tills, cash handling, and scheduling. Handles payroll administration and reporting as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (where applicable).

Qualifications And Special Skills

Excellent verbal communication skills; English fluency required. Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications; basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required. Stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of working time. Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly; occasionally more for stockroom work. May require use of janitorial equipment and ladders. Stockroom shifts may require lifting up to 20 lbs. Disclaimer
