What you can expect as a Composite Technician at DAS Aviation:
As Composite technician repairs parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg". Some repairs must be facilitated using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
Capable to use close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.). Capable to use hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.). Ability to perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures. PPE must be used when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding Extensive use of bagging materials Able to properly bag for a wide range of component shapes and styles. Capable of using a "Hot-Bonder" type machine cure procedure. Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required. Safely operate shop equipment such as: curing oven, autoclave, vacuum Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you'll need to bring with you:
Your Education :
A High school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Your Experience
:
Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as composite technician
Master: 5+ years' experience as a composite technician
Your Initiative:
We're looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Other particulars:
Physical Requirements
Lifts 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas
Standing for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses
Multiple Departments to include : Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite
Shifts:
1st, 2nd, Weekend
Equipment Used
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
