Description

JOB PURPOSE & REPORTING STRUCTURE

Under the supervision of the lead Supervisor/Manager, the employee uses the press breaks to Shear/Form material. Operates Plasma Cutter and Track Torch to cut, shape and form material. They weld product components, subassemblies, or units in accordance with the Company quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Proficient at some of the below listed qualifications. Operate welder to weld components. Visual inspects final product for conformance to established quality standards and blueprint specifications. Utilize, Read and Comprehend Blueprints and Layouts. Cut, Shear and Form Material. Operate a Plasma Cutter and Track Torch. Understand and conform to establish manufacturing processes. Complete required welding and inventory documentation. Report inventory discrepancies. Perform related material handling duties. Operate forklift and crane to transport materials. Operate required hands tools, torch, and plasma cutter. Participate in the Company's team process to develop and improve manufacturing processes and procedures. Continually strive to find better ways to complete tasks and be the best in the industry. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion and conform to all quality and safety procedures. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A vocational diploma in welding or a minimum of three years production welding experience is preferred. Experience in gas metal arc welding and flux cored arc welding preferred. The position requires three to six months' on-the-job experience to become familiar with departmental/company policies and procedures.

Language Skills- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, blueprints, welding symbols, geometric tolerancing and dimensioning, welding documentation and short correspondence. Ability to communicate with other employees to gather and share information and solve problems.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and assumes responsibility for the result of the decision.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations- Ability to obtain a forklift operator's certificate. CDL operating licensee and must have a welding certification.

Skills/Abilities- Ability to operate various equipment including welder, torch/plasma cutter, assorted hand tools, impact, squares, forklift, and crane/hoist. Requires a basic knowledge of company products and proper welding procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; talk or hear; and use foot/feet OT operate machines.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or more up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required while working in the welding department.

The employee is required to wear safety glasses with side shields and a welding helmet while working in the welding department. Steel Toed work boots/shoes, sleeves, gloves, apron, chest protector are also required, according to the procedure or operation.

Salary Description

$19-$26/hour, $40,000-$55,000/year
