Responsibilities
Work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams to develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3‑D model.
Design structural supports and foundations, investigate and troubleshoot a wide variety of structural design issues.
Utilize 3‑D modeling software tools to generate structural design schematics.
Serve as the structural design team lead, coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated structural design model.
Coordinate and provide guidance to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently as part of a design team.
Accompany and assist senior designers and engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
Mentor and develop less experienced drafters and designers.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in drafting, or high‑school diploma with ≥1 year of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
10+ years of detailed structural steel and reinforced concrete design experience with relevant drawings.
Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3‑D plant layout models.
Experience reviewing structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
Ability to interface with engineering and design teams across disciplines in the power‑plant design process.
Valued but Not Required Experience
Proficiency with MicroStation.
Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design.
Experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation software.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Practical application of engineering science and technology to relate equipment to technical design.
