Description The Maritime System Solutions Portfolio (MSS) within the Maritime Systems Division (MSD) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly capable Chief Engineer to join the Leidos team in Lynnwood, WA to lead a multidisciplined team supporting a series of maritime products. The scope of the business activities within this portfolio includes underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, information technology & engineering services for complex maritime applications, and the development and support of underwater distributed data acquisition and telemetry systems supporting ISR, IPOE, SSW and platform signature measurement.
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical engineering leadership across a portfolio of products and directing a matrixed team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will lead technical thought on product improvement, technical advancements, identification and communication of customer needs, and design for manufacturing.
The Maritime Systems Division of Leidos is an industry leader in developing, applying, and advancing the state-of-the-art signal processing technologies for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems including distributed netted sensor systems, communications systems, positioning systems, tactical decision systems, and autonomous unmanned platforms. Primary Responsibilities
Provide strategic and tactical leadership across a portfolio of products
Provide direction to a matrixed team of engineers as they support product development
Lead technical thought on product improvement, technical advancements, and identification and communication of customer needs, and design for manufacturing
Facilitate system design and the derivation, and development of subsystem requirements
Coordinate with the Portfolio and Program Management teams to ensure effective communication of program needs, facilitate resourcing, and achieve program goals
Ensure a disciplined engineering approach and adherence to quality standards throughout product development, testing, and manufacture
Ensure a focus on design for manufacturing throughout product development
Participate in the Business Capture Process including the writing and review of proposal material
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and/or Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Ocean Engineering, Physics, or Math from an accredited college
10+ years of engineering experience in subsea, maritime, aerospace, or defense programs that include software and electro-mechanical systems
5+ years of experience leading the design, development, and integration of subsea, maritime, aerospace, or defense systems
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Qualifications
10+ years of engineering experience in subsea or maritime programs
10+ years of experience leading the design, development, and integration of subsea maritime systems
10+ years of experience in the manufacturing of products and/or the transition of products from design to manufacturing
Experience with UUVs, payloads, and deployed subsea systems
Experience leading matrixed and cross functional teams
Understanding of ISO 9001:2015
Exposure to program management responsibilities for DoD programs. Including program execution, contract negotiations, financial, and subcontractor management
