Overview An innovative and rapidly expanding engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) organization is seeking a
Director of Substation Engineering
to lead and grow its engineering and design capabilities. This is a rare opportunity to build and shape an engineering division within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation and growth of a substation engineering and design group within a fast‑growing EPC organization.
Oversee all aspects of substation design and engineering, ensuring quality, efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Partner with business development teams to support proposal efforts, client engagement and project acquisition.
Build, mentor and manage a team of engineers and designers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and excellence.
Serve as the primary technical and strategic point of contact for clients, ensuring strong partnerships and successful outcomes.
Collaborate closely with procurement and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Drive the long‑term vision and strategy for the engineering division in alignment with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Civil/Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
8–10 years of experience in substation engineering, with a focus on Protection & Control (P&C) systems highly desirable.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex projects.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong drive to build and grow a business unit.
Demonstrated technical expertise and a commitment to high‑quality engineering solutions.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project scope, technical requirements and deliverables.
Provide hands‑on technical leadership and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and approve engineering designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Participate in client meetings and presentations to support business development.
Monitor project budgets, schedules and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering function.
Contribute to strategic planning and execution across the broader EPC organization.
Base salary: $160,000 – $210,000.
