Cincinnati Children's Position overview: The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is a highly independent role responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing major and principal gifts from individual donors to support Cincinnati Children's. The MGO will collaborate with Development leadership to align fundraising efforts with institutional priorities and achieve fundraising goals. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Goals
The MGO develops relationships and executes strategies that result in major gift and principal gift income. A major gift is defined as $100,000+ and a principal gift is defined as $2,000,000+ to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). The position will maintain a portfolio of 100-125 prospects with an expected annual impact of $1.5 million to $3 million, emphasizing gifts of $100,000 and above. Individual Giving Specific
Identify, assess, cultivate, solicit and close five-, six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals and family foundations, including grateful patient families. Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for each individual. Establish a program of face-to-face personal visits with past, current and prospective donors. Move major gift prospects through the development cycle from qualification to cultivation to solicitation to closing to stewardship. Understand and utilize multiple giving vehicles for donors. Use RENXT and PowerBI to track progress and results. Meet monthly and yearly metrics related to prospect and donor meetings, solicitations, and dollars raised. Coordinate donor interests with organizational priorities and develop funding proposals to match needs. In collaboration with the Stewardship team, help coordinate stewardship reports to communicate gift use to donors. External Communications
Represent Cincinnati Children’s to donors, prospects, medical center leaders, volunteers and national resources. Prepare written and verbal presentations and proposals; deliver information to funders; represent CCHMC at family foundation and not-for-profit board meetings; communicate in donor meetings and at events. Responsible for written communications with donors (gift verification letters, emails, gift agreement drafts, stewardship reports) and coordinating donor visits with leadership. Help lead, recruit and staff campaign and special project committees and volunteers. Crossfunctional Project Management
Serve as leader and point person for major gift and grateful patient fundraising referrals and activities with priority clinical/research divisions, developing funding opportunities and guiding others with prospects in their areas of responsibility. Stay current on legal and programmatic changes affecting development functions. Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field 3-5 years experience Preferred
Experience in healthcare or an academic medical center, or similar complex organization Location and Schedule
