Configuration Data/Knowledge Management SME

The 'Golden Dome for America' initiative is a transformative program designed to enhance missile defense capabilities for North America. With its layered approach to intercepting and tracking threats ranging from traditional ballistic missiles to advanced hypersonic weapons, the program is poised to address the increasingly sophisticated missile arsenals of China, Russia, North Korea, and potentially Iran. The Configuration Data/Knowledge Management (CD/KM) SME will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust processes to manage configuration data, technical documentation, and knowledge assets related to space system programs supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) missions. This role requires a highly experienced individual skilled in data governance, configuration management principles, and knowledge management systems to ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and accountability of program-critical information. The CD/KM SME will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, program compliance, and effective decision-making by ensuring that all technical data and related documentation are consistently maintained and aligned with program requirements. The role involves close collaboration with technical teams, program managers, and government stakeholders to support the lifecycle management of space systems data and knowledge assets. Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain robust configuration management (CM) and knowledge management (KM) processes for space system programs. Ensure that all system configurations, technical data, design records, and documentation are accurately maintained throughout the program lifecycle. Manage CM tools and databases to track configuration changes, maintain baselines, and ensure compliance with program requirements. Establish procedures for controlling technical documentation, including version control, audits, and data integrity checks. Design and support enterprise knowledge management systems to centralize, organize, and share key program information for decision‑making. Facilitate technical data reviews and audits to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with DoD and IC standards. Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to gather, structure, and maintain technical knowledge, lessons learned, and historical program data. Provide program leaders with metrics, reports, and analysis on CM/KM effectiveness and compliance with program timelines. Lead efforts to apply advanced tools, methodologies, and best practices to improve data and knowledge sharing across teams and stakeholders. Prepare configuration management plans and knowledge management strategies for new projects and initiatives. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Information Management, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred). Minimum of 15 years of experience in configuration management, data governance, or knowledge management within a technical or engineering field. Extensive experience managing technical data and documentation for DoD or IC space systems programs. Proven track record of implementing and sustaining CM/KM processes across multi‑platform and complex mission environments. Technical Skills

Expertise in enterprise configuration management tools (e.g., Windchill, CodeBeamer, CMPro, or equivalent). Familiarity with DoD standards for Configuration Management (e.g., MIL-HDBK-61) and related compliance guidelines. Proficiency using collaborative knowledge management platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, or equivalent) to support data sharing and accessibility. Desired Qualifications

Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Data Science, Knowledge Management, or a related technical field. Certifications such as Certified Configuration Management Professional (CCMP) or equivalent. Experience managing data related to satellite systems, orbital mechanics, payloads, or ground systems within national security applications. Familiarity with advanced tools for data visualization, data analytics, and knowledge extraction. Knowledge of relevant data security frameworks and cybersecurity protocols associated with classified technical data. Clearance

Active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
