Entry‑Level Generator Specialist – Field Services & Technical Advising As a Steam Power Field Services & Technical Advising Specialist, you will travel extensively to customer sites across the Americas to support installation, maintenance, and warranty work on industrial power generation equipment. You must be trained and qualified as a Generator Specialist, authorized to perform generator repair work and test and inspection assignments.

Roles and Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to provide on‑site support for generator installation, maintenance, and warranty work.

Review plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshoot plant systems and equipment, and plan, organize, integrate, and direct resources to complete work scopes according to contractual requirements.

Perform generator inspection procedures, including visual inspections, NDT, and performance testing (low voltage and high voltage >600 V).

Diagnose generator faults, execute repair work (winding, stator/rotor, etc.), and perform routine maintenance.

Conduct test and measurement tasks such as insulation resistance, winding resistance, and performance tests.

Prepare detailed reports of inspection findings, test results, and repair work. Maintain accurate records.

Adhere to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related) with GPA ≥ 3.0, or high school diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience in field services or power‑generation equipment maintenance.

Experience with electrical test equipment (Megohmmeters, Hipot tests, OTDR, multimeters).

English proficiency.

Eligibility Requirements

Ability to travel up to 80 % domestically (with possible international trips).

Physical capabilities: lift up to 50 lb, climb 10 flights of stairs, pass respirator fit test, and work in confined spaces and high‑stress conditions.

Availability for 12 hrs/day, 7 days/week when needed; willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Desired Qualifications

Prior experience as a field engineer or similar role.

Experience performing maintenance and testing on electrical generators.

Strong technical skills in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical schematics, P&IDs, and instrument diagrams.

Fast learner, self‑starter, strong determination.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: $60,000–$85,000 k (plus performance bonuses, variable incentive compensation, equity).
