Job Summary / Description K8 News is seeking an energetic and engaging Digital Anchor / MMJ to bring streaming, online, and social media coverage to an established number one audience in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The position combines digital anchoring/hosting and producing news on our streaming and social media platforms, anchoring streaming presentations from our digital desk, hosting videos on kait8.com and K8 News social media channels, and assisting in the development, planning, and execution of digital streaming strategies. Other duties include updating news stories, images, video, and live content for our linear TV operation as appropriate.
Duties / Responsibilities
Go live on digital platforms during breaking news, severe weather, community events, planned programming, etc.
Create short‑form and long‑form video stories for our website, app, streaming platforms, and social media sites using content gathered by reporters, as well as your unique content.
Anchor and produce digital‑first updates, explainers, and special reports.
Coach and collaborate with reporting staff to take advantage of the presentation of their stories on digital platforms.
Team with the newsroom to identify opportunities for unique digital video coverage.
Generate, gather, and provide news and information in the most accurate, appealing, timely, and creative way.
Maintain a high quality of content with accurate, error‑free reporting.
Work with Digital Content Producers to craft and maintain a station voice across platforms.
Assist with the creation and implementation of digital strategies and projects that may span multiple weeks or months.
Create digital assets, including video, photo galleries, live video streams, and other multimedia, to enhance stories.
Qualifications / Requirements
Journalism or Communications degree required.
Knowledge and understanding of all media platforms, including broadcast, digital, social, and mobile.
Knowledge of ENPS and other news programs, or ability to learn.
Experience with non‑linear editing.
Ability to act as a team player while handling a variety of tasks in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, stressful environment.
