Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and mission‑oriented Applied AI Engineer to drive the development, integration, and deployment of AI/ML‑powered capabilities across CHAOS’ product lines.

This individual will work in a high integrity environment with a very high‑caliber team of researchers and engineers to ensure advanced AI research translates into tangible, real‑world shippable software especially in defense applications.

You must bring a strong record of academic excellence as well as creative use of AI and Machine Learning in actual products.

Any exposure to a highly regulated or mission‑driven sector like aerospace, defense, or critical infrastructure is a big plus.

You will be given a lot of independence, but you need to be self‑driven and willing to learn at a very rapid pace.

Must be willing to work with disparate teams, customers, and stakeholders of various types to learn the requirements, rapidly develop prototypes, and bring them eventually to production with low oversight.

Responsibilities

Learn: Quickly come up to speed browsing related code and documentation that already exists. Must be motivated to learn unfamiliar subjects and drive the learning needs.

Productization: Ensure our AI models are robust, interpretable, testable, and performant under real‑world conditions—especially in adversarial, low‑power, GPS‑denied or edge‑deployed environments.

Time Management: Manage your time to split across meetings and execution but still be able to devote time for learning.

If this role will require travel, list the percentage or frequency: 10‑20% (mostly domestic).

Work on‑site a minimum of 2 days per week out of our San Francisco office, with 2‑4 days per week preferred.

Qualifications

BS/MS + 2+ years of experience in professional software development.

Experience with Python, model serving infrastructure, model lifecycle management.

Experience building, testing, and supporting major systems in production.

Preferred Requirements

Committer to one or more open‑source projects.

Experience with AI Agents built using LangChain and LangGraph.

Experience with analog or digital RF signal processing.

Any exposure to drone or similar moving targets tracking.
