UMATR
Software Engineer – Python
Company:
I’m working with a fast-growing startup building developer infrastructure tools that make working with APIs simpler and more reliable. It helps engineering teams automatically generate high-quality SDKs and documentation from their APIs, improving developer experience and adoption.
Founded a couple of years ago, the company operates from Brooklyn, New York, and is backed by well-known investors in the developer tools and infrastructure space. The team is small, collaborative, and passionate about open source and craftsmanship in code.
The role: This position is ideal for ambitious engineers with entrepreneurial goals. They’re looking for a Python engineer to lead the development of our Python SDK generator. Your work will directly shape the experience of thousands of developers using SDKs for top‑tier technology companies.
Specialist SDK engineers define what high quality looks like in their language and help set the standard for the broader developer community.
What you’ll do:
Define Python best practices. You will set the tone for how a modern Python SDK should feel – clear, idiomatic, and delightful to use. This is more than code generation; it is about building libraries that developers trust and love.
Enhance our compiler. You will own key components of our open source compiler, adding features like auto-pagination and server-sent events, and pushing the boundaries of what generated SDKs can do.
Engage with the Python community. You will stay up to date with the latest Python tools and frameworks, incorporate best practices, and work directly with developers through public channels to evolve the SDK based on real-world feedback.
Help grow the team. You will work closely with leadership to recruit and mentor new engineers as the organisation scales.
Qualifications:
3–10 years of software engineering experience
Deep expertise in Python
Strong understanding of SDK development and open source ecosystems
