Job Description
The Electronics Technician, Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, including replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment, and taking test readings using instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes and amplifiers. Work is performed under close supervision and is checked frequently for accuracy. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
Essential Responsibilities
The Electronics Technician, Maintenance maintains repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, navigational aids; personal and main frame computers and terminals; industrial, medical, measuring and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices).
Possess a good understanding of basic electronic theories and familiarity with standard electronic components.
Apply technical knowledge of electronics principles to determine equipment malfunctions, restore operation, evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production units, and recommend changes to simplify assembly and maintenance.
Optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education/Experience:
Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics. Requires manual dexterity to perform repairs and modifications to small assemblies such as integrated circuit boards.
Other Requirements:
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
Work Environment:
May include temperature and humidity-controlled settings; some tasks may require outdoor work in heat/cold or offshore environments. Temporary duty travel (TDY) possible.
Physical Demands:
Ability to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, and move heavy items.
Other:
Eligibility to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance; pre-employment checks as applicable; US citizenship required for DoD clearance.
