We are looking for an Jr Structural Engineer to join our team, giving you the opportunity to co‑create with our experts on some of the most prestigious infrastructure programs in North America. You will work closely with your Technical Director and Project Managers to support and prepare technical documents such as design basis documents, calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering reports and will interface with specialists in other disciplines such as geotechnical, civil, coastal, engineer‑divers, and to a lesser extent, mechanical and electrical engineers.
On a day‑to‑day basis, you will:
Perform tasks on projects in the field of structural engineering, bridge engineering or marine infrastructure
Perform structural analysis and design including, but not limited to, reinforced and pre‑stressed concrete design, steel design and timber design, deep foundations, gravity‑based foundations, earth retaining structures, etc.
Handle parts of projects based on your skill level and experience
Implement best practices in areas of expertise, in addition, ensure conformance with all applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Prepare and review calculations for analysis along with preparing engineering reports and memoranda
Prepare construction drawings and other documents, such as technical specifications
Perform construction administration activities along with performing site inspections and other tasks as required
On top of that, you will:
Hold an M.S. or higher degree in Structural Engineering, along with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a professional setting as a structural engineer
Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.) license in CA; or able to obtain quickly upon obtaining employment at COWI
Structural engineering experience should be in at least one of ports, harbors, coastal engineering, bridges, tunnels, or other heavy civils
The ability and willingness to travel and to perform required fieldwork
Have solid written and verbal communication skills along with great relationship‑building skills

Base compensation: $76,000 to $102,000 for San Diego location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
